Given the nature of the diversity of the profession of landscape architecture to which it is called upon, the goal of the Department is to train our students capable of handling varied scales of practice (from private gardens and community parks to campus, recreational area and wetland preservation), and of a broad range of scope (from aesthetics issues to reclamation implementation). Students are introduced to multiple subjects of knowledge including garden design, parks and open-space design, site development, environment planning, recreation areas planning and design, residence and urban planning and design, ecological engineering and ecological conservation, wetlands conservation, and green areas establishment and conservation.
In the future, one of the great missions of the Department is to bring up more qualified landscape architects competent in dealing with sustainable development, ecological design and preservation to meet with the policy development of Taiwan under the growing global awareness of sustainable development.
